In “Defense” Of Shirley Sherrod

July 22nd, 2010 — 12:25pm

I’ll keep it brief …

Can we please stop talking about this story now? It doesn’t matter what this woman said. Well, it does. However, the fact that only some of the video was released (whether intentionally or not) invalidated the whole story, as far as the left-wing media sees it.

Since Sherrod’s full speech to a NAACP crowd was released, it makes the cut that was played over and over on TV networks look like it was “taken out of context.” Whether you think so or not, it doesn’t matter. The media now has a narrative that the right intentionally does things to make liberal blacks look racist.

The story has changed from what this woman said to the White House reaction and then to how she was mistreated. Who wins here? Shirley Sherrod. She looks like a victim after Obama threw her under the perpetual bus. Could you imagine if Obama wasn’t so thin skinned and stood by her? He would look like the savior the left thinks he is. This is at least one thing some can be thankful for.

And another thing, who cares how the audience reacted? That argument is a complete straw man. One can say “well look how those yahoos that represent 1% of the tea party react.” And then the media paints the entire movement as one that is racist. This argument is the same one the media uses and degrades this story down to a pissing match between middle schoolers.

Anyway, I have a message to the conservative media and outlets such as FOX News. Stop. Covering. This. Story. It’s over. They won. The media and other left-wingers have something sacred that the right does not. The race card. They can use this trump card anytime a minority is involved and it is proven to work 99.9% of the time.

So who is the true winner in the end? Hillary Clinton.

The Plight of Dave Weigel

June 28th, 2010 — 8:30am

Here is Dave Weigel’s attempt at a mea culpa. Weigel is the artists formally known as the Washington Post’s faux conservative/libertarian.

Two things about his article on Big Journalism. At least he admitted he voted for Barack Obama, something a libertarian (which he claims to be) and a conservative would never do. However, he did not admit he voted for Ralph Nader in 2000 and John Kerry in 2004. Nader, is understandable, since he is a consumer advocate. However, Nader’s positions on (just every other) topic is mind-boggling at best.

I can excuse Mr. Weigel for voting for Nader, but John Kerry? Really? I think that was the worst managed campaign in recent political history; other than John McCain in 2008 and Gerald Ford in 1976 (even though he didn’t get trounced … Jimmy Carter).

Look, Dave Weigel is a good writer. He does have a way with words, I will give him that. However, the Washington Post should have never hired him to cover the “conservative movement.” Unless, they were looking for someone to exemplify far-right sectors of the “conservative movement” such as birther-in-chief Orly Taitz (who ironically defended him) or Alex Jones. On the other hand, if the Post read anything he has ever written they knew what they were getting, especially when he was recommended by their liberal policy wonk Ezra Klein.

Weigel is allowed to have his opinions of Matt Drudge, Pat Buchanan and other conservatives. However, please don’t claim you can objectively write about the “conservative movement.”

However, Mr. Weigel isn’t the person to blame here. The real criminal is the Washington Post. They knew exactly what they were getting into when they hired Weigel. What confuses me the most out of this is the fact that the Post originally hired Ben Domenech (a “real” conservative) to cover the right. (Note: They ended up letting him go after it was discovered he was plagiarist, or something.) Then they hire a faux conservative or somewhat-libertarian (at best) to cover the conservatives.

Just goes to show the Washington Post will always be known as a member of the dinosaur media.

Awesome: 430,000 jobs created in May

June 4th, 2010 — 9:36am

That’s the spin you’ll be hearing from the Obama administration.

However, in all actuality 411,000 of those jobs ‘created’ are census workers, which is a temporary job.

Colorado Senate Candidate Romanoff says White House offered him job to step aside

June 2nd, 2010 — 9:08pm

In a statement U.S. Senate candidate Andrew Romanoff (D-CO) was offered the possibility of three jobs by Jim Messina, the President’s deputy chief of staff. Romanoff has issued the following statement (emphasis mine):

I have received a large number of press inquiries concerning the role the White House is reported to have played in my decision to run for the U.S. Senate. I have declined comment because I did not want – and do not want – to politicize this matter.

A great deal of misinformation has filled the void in the meantime. That does not serve the public interest or any useful purpose.

Here are the facts:

In September 2009, shortly after the news media first reported my plans to run for the Senate, I received a call from Jim Messina, the President’s deputy chief of staff. Mr. Messina informed me that the White House would support Sen. Bennet. I informed Mr. Messina that I had made my decision to run.

Mr. Messina also suggested three positions that might be available to me were I not pursuing the Senate race. He added that he could not guarantee my appointment to any of these positions. At no time was I promised a job, nor did I request Mr. Messina’s assistance in obtaining one.

Later that day, I received an email from Mr. Messina containing descriptions of three positions (email attached). I left him a voicemail informing him that I would not change course.

I have not spoken with Mr. Messina, nor have I discussed this matter with anyone else in the White House, since then.

Here is the email Messina sent to to Romanoff, describing three positions.

POLITICO is also confirming this story.

Breaking: Barney Frank has a sense of ’shame’

Barney Frank: Deaths Of “Innocent” Flotilla Activists Makes Me “Ashamed” As A Jew

Boston Globe: U.S. Rep. Barney Frank had harsh words yesterday for the Israeli Navy after a bloody raid on a pro-Palestinian flotilla outside of Gaza, describing nine activists killed in the conflict as “innocent” and calling for an independent inquiry into the showdown.

Frank, in a wide-ranging interview with the Herald, went on to say that “as a Jew” Israeli treatment of Arabs around some of the West Bank settlements makes me ashamed that there would be Jews that would engage in that kind of victimization of a minority.

The one question the media hasn’t asked during this whole oil spill mess: Where is Al Gore, environmentalist-in-Chief?

Maybe he’s making the final tweaks to his new $9 million estate:

Remember, it was only two weeks ago that Algore gave a commencement address on the dangers of “global warming” and such:

MSNBC: Incorrect Rand Paul transcript “technically correct”

May 24th, 2010 — 6:01pm

In the official transcript for Rand Paul’s (R-KY) interview with Rachel Maddow, MSNBC made it look like Dr. Paul answered “yes” that he is in favor of racial discrimination. Here is how MSNBC has the transcript printed:

MADDOW: Do you think that a private business has the right to say we don’t serve black people?

PAUL: Yes. I’m not in favor of any discrimination of any form.

This caused the NY Times to falsely report the following:

Asked by Ms. Maddow if a private business had the right to refuse to serve black people, Mr. Paul replied, “Yes.”
