Chris Dodd’s Hateful Campaign Blogger : Ian Schwartz

Chris Dodd’s Hateful Campaign Blogger

June 1, 2007 @ 3:50 pm

Several months ago Michelle Malkin and many other conservative bloggers exposed the offensive and explicit language Amanda Marcotte used on her blog prior to joining the John Edwards campaign. Miraculously, when she worked under the title of “John Edwards campaign blogger” we didn’t see her dirty prose being used.

As I will document in this post, “Emboldened” blogger turned Chris Dodd campaign blogger Matt Browner-Hamlin has a similar past as Marcotte. While blogging at “Emboldended,” a Baltimore Group blog, Mr. Browner-Hamlin used very explicit language to villify his political opponents.

***

Ironically, in a post titled “The truth about misogynists” Mr. Browner-Hamlin saw fit to label Ann Althouse as an “asshole” and “fuckwit.” He also used the same words to describe Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit and Ace of Ace of Spades because of “anti-woman” language he accuses them of using:

Browner-Hamlin calls Ann Althouse, Glenn Reynolds and Ace fuckwits and assholes

In case it wasn’t clear already, Browner-Hamlin once again shares his opinion of Ann Althouse and Ace:

finaholes.jpg

The day prior, Mr. Browner-Hamlin continued to refer to Ann Althouse as a “fucking asshole” and suggested readers to quote him on that because, and I quote, “I will stand by those words until the day I die.”

Browner-Hamlin calls Ann Althouse a fucking asshole.

***

Browner-Hamlin doesn’t seem to like Senator Joe Lieberman or his supporters, who represents the same state as … Chris Dodd. In a post titled “A Friendly Reminder” he wrote last November, Browner called Lieberman supporters “Lieberfuckers.” Some friendly reminder:

Lieberfuckers

Earlier that year he said it was “fucking bullshit” that Lieberman choose to ran in the general election:

Browner-Hamlin calls it "fucking bullshit" that Joe Lieberman ran in the general election in 2006.

***

In a post last March Mr. Browner-Hamlin scorned The New York Times for mentioning Rush Limbaugh FOUR times, in fact he thought it was necessary to use the f-bomb to describe the four times:

Rush Limbaugh four "fucking" times

Later in that post, Matt advocated using impeachment as a campaign tool in the 2006 elections:

cowering-impeachment.jpg

And at the end of that post he referred didn’t refer to Iraq as a “clusterfuck” once, but twice:

cowering-clusterfuck.jpg

***

In a November 2005 post Mr. Browner-Hamlin went on a rant calling women who voted for Bush “dumb ass bitches” who deserve what they get because according to him, the nomination of Alito by the “neochristian” right would lead to Roe v. Woe being overturned. Which to this day, has not occurred:

Matt Browner-Hamlin calls women "dumb ass bitches"

It turns out Mr. Browner-Hamlin is a misogynist himself.

Like Amanda Marcotte, Mr. Browner-Hamlim obviously has a problem with Christians.

**

In a May 2006 post, Browner praises CNN for showing a video of terrorists targeting a killing American soldiers:

Browner supports CNN showing sniper video

Indeed, Mr. Browner does misplace his anger at those who have yellow ribbons on their cars that read Support the Troops instead at the snipers for killing American soldiers and CNN for playing such propaganda.

***

Matt Browner-Hamlin announced on May 14th that he would be leaving Emboldened and accepted a job on the Chris Dodd campaign. The same day, he wrote his first post titled “My New Job Rocks,” for some reason though, the f-bomb and other hateful rhetoric was not included.

Help bring Mr. Browner-Hamlin’s past to light. Email the Dodd campaign here or comment on the their blog here.

Ed Schultz should be quoted in the “paper of record”? Why, because he does such a great Limbaugh impression?

    Heh

    Perfect.

Dodd’s campaign can’t even get traction here. It’s nothing but a shill campaign to line his pockets. His best bud, Teddy, must be proud.

Browner-Hamlin? Prior posts? Just a minor speedbump on the highway to obscurity.

    Losers. Both.

I don’t think most people even know who Chris Dodd is

  4. Jeffersonian on June 1st, 2007 9:04 pm

Boy, these Democrats can sure pick ‘em, eh? I think it’s fair to ask the candidates what drew them to these foul-mouthed fulminators in the first place. Are they experts in the attitude of the people the candidate is trying to reach, by chance?

Great post! The guy really can’t hold a candle to St. Amanda when it comes to pointless hatred though that “dumb ass bitches” line show that — unlike Dodd as of late — he’s at least making an effort. When will presidential candidates learn that nothing will bite you in the ass quicker than hiring an official campaign blogger?

I’m sure I was one of the first people to point out that hiring Marcotte showed that Edwards didn’t have a clue. And, all three critical but non-abusive comments I left on Hamlin’s entries at the HuffPost never appeared. Despite that, I don’t think the above exactly rises to the “*#@# Patriarchy Stole My ##**! Brain” level.

What a pathetic hit job this is. Marcotte had extreme politics and views toward religion. You want to get Hamlin fired because he sounded like John McCain during his Navy service, or Arnold during his Hollywood career? Lame beyond belief.

  8. Ian on June 2nd, 2007 2:14 am

How is this a hit job? I am just putting out there the truth.

And when did I advocate the firing of Hamlin?

  9. Rob Taylor on June 2nd, 2007 3:59 am

I’m a big fan but I’ve got to disagree with you on this one. The guy sounds like a typical liberal, but doesn’t really rise to Marcotee level vileness. He seems to like to type out “fuck” alot, so he’s a bit immature.

Catty and spiteful? Yes. Hateful? Maybe. Pandagondian? No way.

After reading the excerpts provided by Ian I went and read the source posts at Matt Browner-Hamlin’s place. The chief worry for the Dodd campaign isn’t Matt’s writing, the chief worry ought to be this: Matt doesn’t think so good.

WJA, is it proper for a US presidential candidate and current US Senator to hire some who obviously has problems with women, Christians, and actively gets off on US troops being targeted and killed by Islamic snipers?

I await with baited breath your response.

“I’ve never see a more baseless attack on any blogger than what Ann has levied against Jessica today. I’ll repeat myself, Ann Althouse is a f**king a**hole and anyone can quote me on that - I will stand by those words until the day I die.” (Poster’s note: Asterisks are MY addition)

Thank you, Mr. Browner Hamlin for being up front and honest about how you feel. Your posts also attack Rush Limbaugh and Joe Lieberman. You were very clear on your stance regarding them, too. It also shows me which direction Mr. Dodd’s campaign is going, and it’s not one that I would pull the lever for. Glad we cleared that up!

Quite truthfully, as a Connecticut resident and one of the voters that Mr. Dodd represents, I’m embarrassed that Mr. Dodd would hire someone of this caliber without checking first. Or maybe his staff actually did and this is the type of person they wish to have on the campaign, which is almost more frightening than sheer ignorance. Either way, I do think there will be consequences, but to whom and what kind, I can’t begin to guess. Just remember, it wasn’t all that long ago that someone in Washington lost his job for using a word that SOUNDED like the “N-word”. Others have been removed from campaigns for lesser offenses, so I can’t see Mr. Dodd getting a free pass on this. As a matter of fact, I hope he doesn’t. It’s time to be accountable for one’s actions, Mr. Browner Hamlin. Mr. Dodd, I hope you start checking into the character of your staff a bit more carefully.

Matt Browner-Hamlin represents one of the major reasons why I (and millions just like me) left the Democratic Party after 9/11. I was a Dem all the way before then, a feminist, anti-racist, etc…but the Dems and the radical Left since 9/11 have shown how much they hate themselves, Christians and America. They just don’t get it. These are the “mockers” the Bible speaks about. These are the people who will hand over Christians to be killed and they will believe they are doing a good thing. (See 2Peter 3:3 and Zep 2:10).

    Chris Dodd’s New Hater…

Ian Schwartz points out Chris Dodd hiring a foul fingered, woman, Christian, and troop hater to be his official blogger. Why am I not surprised? This is what the Left is all about: hate.

I’ve never tried to compare what Browner wrote to what Marcotte wrote. Yes, they are different, however if you were a Presidential candidate, do you think it would be a good idea (more like good PR) to hire someone with such a vile past.

And please do not say “they may not have known about it.” At the peak, Browner’s site received an average of 5000 hits a month. For months (dating back to at least October) Browner has written many pro-Dodd pieces (most seem like someone at the campaign wrote them instead). It is very obvious the Dodd campaign has been following his site for a long time and it is inexcusable that he was hired in the first place.

More importantly, does Senator Dodd approve of this?

Why do Left Wing blogs contain more profanity laced tirades and personal attacks and insults ? Sort of like the college cafeteria debates with pimply 19 year olds who just heard their professor use the term ” Military Industrial Complex” for the first time ..

  17. Rob Taylor on June 3rd, 2007 10:26 pm

I agree. Dodd’s people know this blogger is an immature hack, I just think they, like many liberals, don’t really see the big deal. I’ve gotten called worse than f’n a’hole on my blog, by people who themselves have blogs dedicated to claiming we conservatives are hateful monsters. Let Dodd hang himself with his new blogger, it’ll be a matter of weeks before the guy writes something so out of bounds it’ll cost Dodd his run. That’s the only way the Dems will learn.

Dodd knows exactly what the guy did before hiring him. I’ll respect Dodd more if he admits he’s a hateful cur and approves of vile attacks on people on the internet. At least he’d show us where he stands, more than you can say for the other Democratic candidates.

My only caveat (did I spell that right?) is that unlike Marcotte for example, his screeds are fairly typical and probably considered mainstream by Dodds people. I don’t think it’s a matter of if Dodd can justify hiring the guy, but if Dodd could even be convinced he had to.

    Now you’re just be silly.
