Video: ABC Reported on ‘Phony Heroes’ Days Prior to Limbaugh’s ‘Phony Soldiers’ Comment

September 30, 2007

Rush Limbaugh has unfairly been attacked for calling people who said they were involved in and/or witnessed war atrocities but really weren’t, phony soldiers. Isn’t that a definition of a phony? Along with liberal “media watchdog” group Media Matters and far-left blogs, the entire media has smeared Limbaugh. However, it was only last week ABC did a story on … “phony heroes”! ABC news anchor Charles Gibson teased the segement as a “closer look” at phony heroes. ABC investigative reporter Brian Ross reported on the “crackdown” federal prosecutors launched in outing these phonies (via Newsbusters):

BRIAN ROSS: At a time when tens of thousands of US soldiers have put their lives on the line in Iraq and been honored for their sacrifice and courage, federal prosecutors have had to launch a crackdown on phony heroes.

Why hasn’t Media Matters, the left-wing blogosphere and the rest of the liberal media attacked ABC and demanded an apology? Will Democrats submit a bill condemning ABC? Will VoteVets produce an advertisement attacking ABC as they did with Limbaugh? Don’t hold your breath.

Dem To Introduce Bill Condemning Limbaugh

September 30, 2007

Liberal outlet TPM is reporting a Democratic congressman plans to introduce a bill condemning Rush Limbaugh tomorrow:

I’ve just learned that Rep. Mark Udall (D-CO) will be introducing a resolution in the House of Representatives on Monday condemning Rush Limbaugh for his “phony soldiers” remark.

This is significant because it has the potential to dramatically up the stakes in this fight. If the Democratic leadership allows it to go for a vote, it will force all the Republicans in the House to either vote for it, against it, or skip the vote — and to pass judgment on the powerful conservative talk show host’s contention that troops who don’t support President Bush’s war policies are “phony soldiers.”

Even though I think what O’Reilly said was not racist, I thought this segment on the Daily Show with Senior Black Correspondent Larry Wilmore was absolutely hilarious:

Newt Gingrich Will Not Seek Presidency

September 29, 2007

Official:

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich will not run for president in 2008 after determining he could not legally explore a bid and remain as head of his tax-exempt political organization, a spokesman said Saturday.

“Newt is not running,” spokesman Rick Tyler said. “It is legally impermissible for him to continue on as chairman of American Solutions (for Winning the Future) and to explore a campaign for president.”

Newt’s people say the reason is because as the chair of a non-profit organization he can’t run for President. Obviously, this is not the reason because he’s known he would have to step down anyways in order to run. The real reason is two-fold: one, he couldn’t generate enough support to garner that $30 million he wanted and two, most likely the reason reason, he is unelectable.

Kerry Blasts Limbaugh Over ‘Phony Soldiers’ Remark

September 28, 2007

The Hill:

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) on Thursday demanded an apology from conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh, who called soldiers who oppose the Iraq war “phony.”

“This disgusting attack from Rush Limbaugh, cheerleader for the chicken-hawk wing of the far right, is an insult to American troops,” Kerry said. “Mr. Limbaugh owes an apology to everyone who has ever worn the uniform of our country, and an apology to the families of every soldier buried in Arlington National Cemetery.”

John Kerry talking about insulting the troops — now that’s funny!

My sentiments are with what Bryan Preston wrote earlier today. Read it if you need some background information on the whole fabricated Limbaugh controversy.

Video: John Edwards: Blacks Are ‘All Going To Be In Prison Or Dead’

September 28, 2007

John Edwards said what?

edawrdsblackmyspaceq1.jpg

“We cannot build enough prisons to solve this problem. And the idea that we can keep incarcerating and keep incarcerating — pretty soon we’re not going to have a young African-American male population in America. They’re all going to be in prison or dead. One of the two.”
