Video: Ron Paul Booed At Debate For Bashing Foreign Policy
October 21, 2007 @ 10:39 pm
Ron Paul on our policy in Iraq and a possible war with Iran:
This is a result of a foreign policy of interventionism. The Founders advised non-interventionism and even our president won the election in the year 2000 to have a more humble foreign policy, not to go into nation building and not get involved in internal affairs in other nations. We won an election on that. But, here we are, we’re over there we have invaded this country and this is just another unintended consequence. The war is spreading the war is likely to go into Iran nobody is willing to take it off the table. What would it be like if somebody came into Mexico and said something like putting missiles in Europe? We’re just looking for trouble, it is so unnecessary and we jeopardize ourselves and quite frankly we are not able to afford this. So, we don’t need to go looking for trouble, we don’t need another Cold War and all we have to do is start talking with people and trading with people. We don’t need to assume that the world is going to blow up. Just think of when I was drafted in the military and I served five years in the military the Saudis had 40,000 nuclear weapons and here we are now worrying about agitating and putting missiles in Europe. It’s the Turk’s business, it’s not our business.

Got something to say?

That audience is scary. Hopefully that’s not what every Republican in Florida represent - well, they did vote for Bush.
Ron Paul got booed when he spoke against the war which %70 of Americans oppose aswell, so he came out on top anyway (Many Pro-War Neo-Cons at a FOX News debate, what a surprise). But when it came to the other topics such as Health Care or Financial problems like the dollar, he got applauded. The other candidates prefer to talk about fixing problems without giving solutions and that’s when they’re not making childish attacks towards each other. Non of them wants to stop the war which will send the U.S. further down a financial crisis. Ron Paul won that debate.
It’s too bad that most people cannot do the math to realize that we can not only afford more wars, we don’t have the troop levels to sustain such wars (legitimate or otherwise). America has been burned by the current war with Iraq. The people aren’t happy. Perhaps when the economy collapses from the endless military war spending, and their houses are foreclosed from beneath them, they will change their tune. Open your eyes America. The dollar is now worth less than the Canadian dollar for crying out loud.
The audience was certainly full of pro-war republicans - this is Florida after all. But, this is also Fox News and that probably had something to do with it but I’m not sure - It is obvious that Fox is not only biased about Paul - but all the lower tier candidates - a study put out recently showed Fox News was the worst network at mentioning anyone accept the top tier. Anywho - best regards.
%70 of Americans want the war to end. But 70% don’t want an immediate pullout, which is what Paul suggest. Also if you look at recent polls more and more people are seeing progress n Iraq. If Ron Paul had his way that progress never would have been made.
Republicans booed Paul because he is pushing for surrender a large majority of republicans are against surrender. A large majority of republicans, who Paul has to get the nomination from, don’t support his weak stance on the War on Terror. Republicans are standing on principle and whats right not on polls that change everyday.
Victory is the only option in Iraq and anyone who suggest different deserves to be booed.
Victory? Complete7, America is 2.7 trillion in dept and the spending overseas is approaching 800 billion dollars. Right now, the U.S. has to borrow insane amounts of money from countries like China and Japan to finance the war in Irak. One of the main reason the value of the dollar is dropping is because of the insane amount of money the Fed is printing to try and keep up. The result of this is an increase in inflation which will keep worsening. Are you willing to face a financial crisis and a crash of the dollar in order to continue a war that’s been going on for 5 years and inwhich no-one sees the end?
Ron Paul is not weak on Terror. He just understands that the war in Iraq never had much to do with a War on Terror.
1. If our goal was to get rid of Saddam - DONE.
2. If our goal was to find/notfind WMD’s - DONE.
Those were the two things that Congress approved in the authorization of force. Everything that we are doing there now is mission creep (or worse). Our work is done. Even if you supported the war to begin with (which I did) - OUR WORK THERE IS DONE.
That is why the military supports Ron Paul. Because he is the only candidate who understands what these chickenhawks don’t. You can’t send the military in to do undefined missions with no end.
A surrender is something you do when you lose.
When you stop occupying a country… you pretty much just leave. Nobody kicks you out. It is a decision made rationally based on facts.
It is an emotional straw man to talk about surrender.
Who runs this country? The people or the military industrial complex?
I simply do not understand why they started booing…I guess the people in the audience want another cold war…and dont want to be friends with anybody
And the illusion of democracy continues. We debate about fake debates and fake elections, while some radical Jewish international banking family assholes prepare to take control of our country. Somebody should be chewing some Rockefeller ass instead of worrying about another fake election. But the TV told us to be good little boys and girls so it will never happen. Fuck our bullshit freedoms and fuck the fuckers who fucked this country.
I live in Florida and am amazed on a daily basis as to the ignorance of people here. I think they all get their news from the protestant pulpit. Is it possible the most bloodthirsty among us are the Christians? Frightful. It would seem impossible to be more bloodthirsty than the american Jews. Fortunately Paul has a large national base of support. He will lose Florida by a landslide. Florida is an ugly state, physically. How ironic it is also an ugly state morally. And corruption…..don’t get me started.
LOL…looks like the Ron Paulites found this post!
Pam,
Why do you slap us with the label “Ron Paulites”? We all just simply believe that the war in Iraq is a bust. There’s no real progress, and all we’re doing over there is protecting our fake honor by not giving the world the impression that we’re surrendering. In the meantime, our gas prices go up, inflation goes up, we can’t afford healthcare, troops are dying, civilians are dying, we’re losing allies and respect around the world, the GOP is becoming a disaster, all while Al-Qaeda strengthens their base anyway because of their extreme nature of dying for their cause.
Think about it: We’re in a War against Terrorism. What does this mean? Does it mean that we are to rid the world of terrorism through military might? Why don’t we just say we’re in a war against evil?
What you should be calling us is wise.
Brief Overview of Congressman Paul’s Record:
He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.
He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
If you want continuous war, your life policed, an RFID card, suspension of habeas corpus and the constitution (all of your rights as Americans including free speech, which includes the right to post here) etc… Then don’t vote for Ron Paul.
Ron Paul speaks the truth. People would rather boo a man that says something different (even if he’s right), than just sit back and think about it for a minute. Finally a politician that stands up for the constitution, and doesn’t just tell us what we want to hear. He gives all his answers sincerely and frankly. What would it be like to have an intelligent man in the White House? Hopefully we’ll find out. Dr. Ron Paul is a courageous man for standing up against the mob, and sticking up for the constitution.
How do we know when we’ve won the war? When every man woman, and child on earth has democracy? I believe in democracy, but who am I to tell the rest of the world how they should act? Who are we to say that democracy is even right? The US is quickly becoming the laughingstock of the world. We are too ignorant to the cultures of any other country but our own. We cannot fight everyone who is different from us. If we do, then we do not believe in freedom–because we are simply imposing ourselves on everyone else.
Why stop with Iraq or Iran or Korea? Why not just take over the rest of the world!? Why not force every country to be like us?? After all–we are the best right? And we wondered how the Nazi’s could be so foolish?? Lets get our heads out of our asses and get out of these ridiculous wars, and mind our own business!! If we expect to police the whole world and force our beliefs on everyone on the planet, no amount of security can protect us from all the people that will want to attack us.
We cannot continue down this road politically or economically. If you do not know the past–you are destined to relive it. We are following all other countries political history, and we will soon, like them, fall from grace, and from being the superpower of the world. Even the Romans after 2000 years could not fathom their own demise.
The Constitution is what made this country so great. Our freedoms, both socially, and economically brought us to the top. Freedom is what makes us great. This is undebateable. The more we destroy what defines our freedom, the more we will lose it, and our place at the top of the world.
That being said–freedom isn’t lost to some other country like the Iraq war. Freedom is lost by us giving up our liberties to our own government. It is our duty to our country and each other as Americans to defend our freedom from enemies “both foreign and DOMESTIC”, remember? “domestic” enemies means protecting our freedom from our own governement!! Our founding fathers were not fools. They saw this coming. They knew that people would demand more government!! People want to be led. Freedom gets us everything, but leading people with promises of hand outs, subsidies, and kickbacks gets people elected. And all of those handouts, and programs are paid for out of our wallets. It is a vicious circle. A politician to save us from everything–all it will cost is more and more money, and give them the power to do everything (for our own good of course). It works every time.
Our founders did all they could to protect our freedom from the governement, and more importantly from ourselves!! Ultimately we will be the ones to just hand our freedom away. But some of us are just not ready yet…
Some of us think that freedom IS something worth fighting for. Supporters of Ron Paul are passionate because they will not sit idle on the sidelines while our freedom is truly under attack here at home. We are passionate because we know how difficult it will be to get someone elected who tells the truth, no matter how ugly it is. We are frustrated because… How can you expect someone like Ron, who has been studying the real important things like economics and sociology all of his life to beat out candidates who have been studying how to win elections all of theirs? If you were sick and needed brain surgury, you would not want a lifelong politician doing it for you, giving vague answers, and telling you slogans and mumbo jumbo. And you wouldn’t want them offering solutions with a proven track record of failure! You would want someone who has been studying medicine their whole life! Like any problem, the truth might be ugly, but the first step towards recovery is admitting that there is a problem. Ron Paul, is screaming it. Ron is the only candidate who cares more about Americas welfare than he cares about himself being elected. I want someone who knows how this country became a superpower. I want a president who know economics. I want a president who has studied the issues ( Giuliani, a self proclaimed “survivor”, hasn’t even read the 9/11 report–Ron is the only one who has ). We need a president that knows something other than how to win elections.
Ron Paul simply supports the very fabric of american greatness–the Constitution. To support another candidate is implying that they could draft up a better blueprint for the United States than our founding fathers–which for all practical purposes is what every other candidate is saying with their actions. America doesn’t need another politician. America is sick, and we need a doctor. That is why I am voting for Ron Paul.
