Media: Not Enough People Dying In Iraq
October 17, 2007
They’re never happy — or pro-American:
At what’s believed to be the world’s largest cemetery, where Shiite Muslims aspire to be buried and millions already have been, business isn’t good.
A drop in violence around Iraq has cut burials in the huge Wadi al Salam cemetery here by at least one-third in the past six months, and that’s cut the pay of thousands of workers who make their living digging graves, washing corpses or selling burial shrouds.
Few people have a better sense of the death rate in Iraq .

Video: Hillary Clinton Would ‘Engage In Negotiations’ With Iran
October 12, 2007
Hillary Clinton once again flip-flops, this time on her position to negotiate with Iran.
In an interview with the Quad-City Times, U.S. Sen. Clinton, of New York, labeled as “irresponsible” and “naive” Obama’s statement that he was willing to meet, without precondition, the leaders of five countries hostile to the United States during the first year of his presidency.
I would engage in negotiations with Iran, with no conditions, because we don’t really understand how Iran works. We think we do, from the outside, but I think that is misleading.
Flip-flop.
Michelle Malkin Under Attack For Exposing Frost Family
October 10, 2007
Left-wing blog Crooks & Liars is accusing Michelle Malkin of attacking, among other things, Graeme Frost, the 12-year-old boy who gave the Democratic weekly radio address. He talked about the importance of the SCHIP program. Malkin went to Frost’s house to investigate just how poor he and his family is. In fact she found that not only is his family not poor, they are actually pretty well off.
Malkin was brutally attacked by the blog for just observing the area where the Frost family lives. She did not seek to confront the family. Here is what Malkin wrote about her findings:
I just returned from a visit to Frost’s commercial property near Patterson Park in Baltimore. It’s a modest place. Talked to one of the tenants, Mike Reilly, who is a talented welder. He said he had known the Frosts for 10 years. Business is good, he told me, though he characterized Frost as “struggling.” Reilly was an outspoken advocate for socialized health care without any means-testing whatsoever and an insistent critic of the Iraq war. Despite all that, he did agree with me that going without health insurance is often a matter of choice and a matter of priorities. Or maybe we were speaking two different languages.
I also passed by the Frosts’ rowhouse. There was an “01 - 20 -09? bumper sticker plastered on the door and a newer model GMC Suburban parked directly in front of the house. I’ve seen guesstimates of the house’s worth in the $400,000-plus range. Those are high. But Mark Tapscott’s point remains: “[P]eople make choices and it’s clear the Frosts have made choice to invest in property and a business, but not in private health insurance. The Maryland-administered version of the federal SCHIP program, by the way, does not impose an asset test on applicants.”
However, only months ago Crooks & Liars celebrated a real stalker’s harassment of Bill O’Reilly. Blogger Mike Stark went to Fox News host Bill O’Reilly’s home, waited outside for him and then confronted the Fox News host when he came outside to fetch his newspaper.
Video: Powers Uses ‘But, But, He Pluralized It’ To Condemn Limbaugh
October 3, 2007
Kirsten Powers, like most of her liberal friends is stuck on the fact that Rush said “phony soldiers” even though he was just referring to one, Jessie Macbeth.
Watch at the end where Sean and Alan get in a little spat over questioning one’s patriotism. If you remember, Harry Reid called Rush unpatriotic. Yet when conservatives dare to question the patriotism of liberals they are scorned as politically incorrect. Liberal logic, go figure.
Melanie Morgan reports on several other phony soldiers such as Jimmy Massey and the most recent of the bunch, Scott Thomas Beauchamp.
Video: La Shawn Barber Discusses The MSM’s Smearing of Bill O’Reilly
September 26, 2007
My friend and blogger extraordinaire La Shawn Barber appeared on CNN this morning along with Boyce Watkins to discuss the MSM-manufactured controversy of Bill O’Reilly’s remarks concerning his visit to Slyvia’s. In the interview, Boyce compares O’Reilly to Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, for making outrageous remarks, and then the Iraq war. You’ll have to watch the segment a few times to understand that analogy. Watkins also accused Juan Williams of playing a “happy negro” after the Fox News commentator defended O’Reilly on last night’s Factor.
La Shawn injected some sense in the issue, which probably made Boyce go more insane than he already was. She said it’s “really not that big of a deal” and the whole comment has been taking out of context. Boyce responded with several straw mans included “you think he was complimenting the black community?” After Barber explained O’Reilly’s comments further, Watkins unknowingly agreed with O’Reilly and commented those who think the gangster rap culture represents black people as a whole are ignorant — the same thing O’Reilly said! Nice job La Shawn for making him look like a complete hypocrite!
La Shawn wrote about her appearance here.
Video: Edwards Against Invasion of Iran, Okay With Attacking Within Pakistan
August 15, 2007
John Edwards told Chris Matthews that he’s afraid President Bush could start a preemptive war with Iran. Later in the interview Edwards said if he had intelligence Osama bin Laden was in Pakistan but Musharraf said he wasn’t — he would still attack. I’m not saying I agree or disagree with that position, but you can’t say one thing and then contradict yourself like candidate Edwards did. Typical liberal hypocrisy.
Oliver Willis Once Again Proves How Dumb He Is
August 4, 2007
Oliver Willis once again tries to slime all Republicans when one is indicted:
It turns out the last City Council member to be indicted was, hold it, a Democrat:
The last incumbent City Council member to be indicted was Brooklyn Democrat Angel Rodriguez, who in 2002 was charged with trying to extort money from a real estate developer. He was convicted and sentenced to more than 4 years in prison.
That’s Oliver Willis for ya.
Left Purges Cindy Sheehan
July 12, 2007
The funny thing is the left says it is the right who is lockstep in line and no opposing opinion is allowed. Well, it is the left (more specifically, The Daily Kos) who is now kicking out Cindy Sheehan out of the movement for challenging Nancy Pelosi. Here’s what Sheehan wrote at The Daily Kos, presumably her last post:
I can’t post here anymore because my potential run for Congress
is not on the Democratic ticket.I have been deeply grateful for all of your support over the years.
Your love and kindness helped me through lots of sleepless nights
at Camp Casey ‘05.If Speaker Pelosi does her constitutionally mandated duty and I don’t run,
then I can come back and post.
Democrat Blogger Wants to Shoot Rush Limbaugh
July 9, 2007
It’s one of those bloggers who accuses the right of “hatespeak” and then calls for the murder of someone:
A Democratic Party blogger says he wants to shoot Rush Limbaugh and is calling for volunteers to assassinate rock star Ted Nugent, who champions the Second Amendment.
Hart Williams, a former writer for porn magazine Hustler and who now toils for the Democratic Daily, was waxing incoherent about a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed by Nugent, complaining that it was likely ghost-written.
“How we can remain ‘civil’ in the face of this is beyond my ken,” wrote Williams. “I will only reiterate what I’ve said WHEN they manage to inevitably push their litany of hatespeak into actual bloodletting, and full-blown civil war (for there is no other place that this hatred of American against American can go), well … I’ve got dibs on Rush, as soon as it’s legal and lawful to shoot him. Whoever wants Ted Nugent is welcome to him, but I would prefer that you would call it now, so as to conserve on ammunition. We will need to manage it prudently. But when the day comes that they have finally set brother against brother, and sister against sister in the name of their pocketbooks, I won’t approach exterminating them with anything approaching remorse. They’ve already told me what they think of me, of my friends and of my peers. Now, I’m returning the favor. Put that in your pipe and have the WSJ editorial staff show you how to smoke it, Nugent. Courage.”
The person writing this garbage? Hart Williams, who used write for Hustler. So writing garbage isn’t a new thing for him. World Net Daily has much more on this guy and the blog he writes for.
Yeah, Sure I’ll Go To Iraq
July 9, 2007
Matt at Blogs for Bush notes the how hypocritical it is of the left to demand those who support the war go fight it when they don’t put their money where their mouths are when it comes to liberal issues.
Here are a few suggestions Matt makes:
# When every single liberal blogger who supports the so-called Fairness Doctrine voluntarily presents both sides of an issue on their blog with no editorializing.
# When every single liberal who calls Bush an idiot gets accepted and graduates from Yale and Harvard Business School.
# When every single liberal who opposes tax cuts voluntarily gives the government a bigger cut of their paychecks.
# When every single liberal who supports the war in Afghanistan volunteers to fight over there.
Video: Paul Krugman Says News Corp. Shouldn’t Be Allowed to Buy Dow Jones
July 2, 2007
Far-left New York Times columnist Paul Krugman told CNBC Rupert Murdoch should not be allowed to acquire the Dow Jones company, which publishes the Wall Street Journal. Yet another liberal who wants big brother to step in to silence free speech. His reason why? Because Fox News is biased. A New York Times bomb thrower is accusing Fox News of being biased?
Krugman brought up Fox’s upcoming business channel and tried to make the CNBC anchor fear Murdoch. The left playing the fear card? I thought that was our job. He even suggested there should be congressional investigations into Murdoch’s possible acquisition of Dow Jones.
Krugman admitted legally no one can really stop the purchase but he begs the Bancroft family (which owns Dow Jones) to use a — get this — moral compass to deny Murdoch. A liberal thinking about morality. That’s a new one.
For most of the interview, the CNBC anchor let Krugman spew his hate and anti-Fox talking points. However when he complained Fox had non-stop coverage of Anna Nicole Smith’s death, the CNBC anchor had to jump in and correctly point out Fox wasn’t the only channel to obsess over Smith.
Liberals Attack PBS For Inviting a Republican To Comment On Debate
June 28, 2007
My friend Matt Sheffield has a great piece at Ace’s on the left attacking PBS for inviting Republican pollster Frank Luntz to server as a commentator at tonight’s Democratic debate on PBS. Matt writes about the typical and well strategized left-wing attack:
Little did I know the lefty bloggers would get it started even before the debate in an attack mounted on pollster Frank Luntz. It’s all so typical. The blog left’s puppet master, David Brock, sends out an “alert” informing them that someone who might possibly be conservative is going to be allowed to report as a “mainstream” journalist.
Horrors!!!
How dare PBS allow a Republican to infiltrate the left-wing sanctorum that is the mainstream media!!!
Predictably, Brock’s dittoheads went into action, denouncing PBS for their temerity.
What I want to know is why there is all this outrage over Frank Luntz when Tavis Smiley, a liberal, is moderating the debate?
Matt will also be blogging at tonight’s Democratic presidential debate at Ace of Spades.
Whose Legacy Is It Anyway?
June 21, 2007
Oliver Willis on conservatives “denying” rights from June 20, 2007:
Conservatives lost the battles in the past they fought against women’s rights, minority rights, and they will lose when it comes to gay rights
Oliver attacked blogger Matt Margolis for pointing out his hypocrisy of the bigotry of Willis’ own party. Oliver then responds basically by saying since it happened in the past we can’t count it. This coming from a person who constantly references the connection of FDR, JFK, and Truman to the Democratic party.
Oliver Willis on “the party of Roosevelt and Truman” from August 16, 2006:
The party of Roosevelt and Truman knows how to fight. Maybe they could start doing so.
Apparently, Democrats can pick and choose whose legacy they would like to adopt.
Democratic Gov. O’Malley Of Maryland Fired State Worker For Political Reasons
June 15, 2007
WBAL reports on my state of Maryland’s Gov. Martin O’Malley, a Democrat, firing a state worker for political reasons. The same thing our former governor (who was very bi-partisan, by the way) was wrongfully accused of. The same thing Attorney General Gonzales is getting wrongfully accused of:
The firing of a midlevel state employee by Gov. Martin O’Malley’s administration was “unconstitutional,” a judge has ruled in the latest development in a long-running debate over the nature of political firings in Maryland.
This time, it’s a new Democratic administration taking the heat, instead of its Republican predecessor.
Judge Susan Sinrod, an administrative law judge who issued the ruling Monday, ordered that the Maryland Department of Transportation employee, Greg Maddalone, must be reinstated to his position “with full back pay and benefits,” effective to Jan. 23. That’s when he was fired by Maryland Department of Transportation Secretary John Porcari, days after the new Democratic governor came into office.
The blog O’Malley Watch has been following this story and has some exclusive documents.
Hypocrite Angelina Jolie Censors Press, Bans Fox News
June 14, 2007
Angelina Jolie who stars as the widow of murdered WSJ journalist Dan Pearl in a pro-press freedom movie seems to be censoring news about her personal life. According to Roger Friedman, Jolie is requiring journos who interview her to sign a contract agreeing they will not ask the actress about her personal relationships. Jolie is also banning Fox News from having any access to her:
Jolie is touting press freedom these days, playing the widow of murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in a new movie called “A Mighty Heart.”
But Jolie turns out to be a mighty hypocrite when it comes to her own freedom of the press. Her lawyer required all journalists to sign a contract before talking to her, and Jolie instructed publicists at first to ban FOX News from the red carpet of her premiere.
